Andrew Bird : The Privateers
Yesterday was the release of Andrew Bird‘s Noble Beast on Fat Possum Records. The self-produced album consists of 14 original songs recorded primarily at the Beech House in Nashville, with additional recording taking place at various Chicago and Minneapolis locations over a period of five months. As usual, Bird handles violin, vocals, whistling and guitar, with back-up from live cohorts Martin Dosh (percussion, looping, keys), Jeremy Ylvisaker (guitar, bass, organ, shortwave) and more recently Mike Lewis, plus a supporting cast including Kelly Hogan, Todd Sickafoose, and the band Loney Dear.

Amazing photography by Super Hyper Real – Jing Quek is a Chinese photographer from Singapore – He’s young and talented, his photography are full of colors and humors…
Milan based painter Valerio Carrubba is an extreme hyperrealism painter. The paintings are Dali inspired, tho he has some pure beauty work that are already in some big collectors homes. Some of his works are painted twice; one brushstroke lying on top of the other. This double painting emphasizes the colors and repeats the form in order not to describe them but almost to deny them. His work is Absolutely stunning and disturbing. Love it !
Of all the Pre Fall 09 Collection I have seen so for far, Zac Posen‘s is by far the most exciting. Posen was ableĀ dial into a period by creating a collection that is closely inspired by the 1920′s – 1940′s, yet doesn’t look like anything we have directly seen from this time. I obviously love historical inspirations just as much as conceptual ones, but there is much more of a restriction in the historical reference which can take the ingenuity out of a collection based on something specific. I felt that Posen explored deep within this period and the limits of reinventing something fresh and new. I love the color palette, his take on the flapper dresses and most of all the military inspired power suit.
