Jens Lekman : A Postcard to Nina

Besides being incredibly engaging and peaceful, this song contains one of the most intricate, funny, tragic, and entertaining stories ever squeezed into song-form.* My favorite parts are when Jens watch Nina’s eyebrows for a clue of how to answer her father’s questions, and that he sends back “out of office auto-replies” after the father tries to befriend him. It’s also very sweet that he goes to such lengths for a girl he is in love with, even though she’s a lesbian.
Siah and Yeshua DaPoEd’s “A Day Like No Other”
falls in this category, but its twice as long. So does “Ode to
Billie Joe.”
What are some other top-notch story-songs?

Such a cute series, shot by Australian photographer, Vee Speers. She first came up with the concept of “The Birthday Party” series after watching her own children and their friends play during a fancy dress party. In creating her own series, choosing the outfits and creating a ubiquitous tone throughout, Speers evokes conceptual contemporary concerns, such as the suggestion of adulthood coming prematurely to children of the new generation.

What do you get when you mix one of the world’s greatest known artisans of cashmere and a contemporary minimalistic genius of a designer? The obscurely pleasant and highly conceptual collaboration entitled Murkudis Johnstons Collection for A/W 08/09. I can only wonder which photographer captured this collaboration so flawlessly. Commenting on the collaboration Kostas Murkudis said: “It is a pleasure to work with a traditional company. It felt quite natural to me to use and play with the rich heritage of Johnstons and logical to scan the light and landscape of Scotland and translate it into colours and surface.”
