All American Dunlin bags portray an absolute hobo chic aesthetic that many brands have tried to channel and horribly failed at. Founded in 2006 by Shiho Nagashima and Ramana Goldstein, Dunlin has established itself as one of fashion’s authentic new voices with their innovative designs, hand-finished leathers, and traditional artisan techniques. Local Natives : Airplanes

Here is some swirling folky music from another unsigned local LA band… this one conveniently with “local” in its name. I’m proud to be the first person in the internet to call them the Fleet Foxes of LA. Swoon to their soaring vocal harmonies and beautiful instrumentation; then go spread the gospel. You can check out Local Natives here.

Today marks a day in history that few who are present will ever forget. A large chunk of what we know as Americana has died today, on June 25th, 2009. I was so saddened by news of Farrah Fawcett’s death this morning, but I could have never in my wildest dreams have thought that in the middle of creating this tribute to her, the world’s most famous person/ The King of Pop – Michael Jackson, would have passed on as well. A truely tradgic day in our lives and pop culture history.
Farrah Fawcett was 62, when she passed today after a long fight with rectal cancer, at St John’s in Santa Monica. A true icon in fashion, style and feminity, Fawcett set trends in her time that will live forever as beauty standards for women worldwide. From the LA Times, “A winsome smile, tousled hair and unfettered sensuality were Farrah Fawcett‘s trademarks as a sex symbol and 1970s TV star in “Charlie’s Angels. But as her life drew to a close, she captivated the public in a far different way: as a cancer patient who fought for, then surrendered, her treasured privacy to document her struggle with the disease and inspire others.” Her documentary aired on television on May 19, 2009, and if you have not had the chance to watch, “Farrah’s Story”, and you can stand to watch it you can find the details on IMDB.
Michael Jackson was 50 years old when he passed today from a cardiac arrest. While en route to the UCLA Medical Center, Jackson apparently stopped breathing. Jackson was originally reported in a coma but other sources mentioned that Jackson died. He died with his family surrounding him. This really came so suddenly! Everyone was anticipating his comeback tour scheduled to start next month in London, so to hear this news was ever so devastating. Jackson was a musical God and gave the whole world songs that will live forever. He is the quintessential icon whose life was in so many ways defined and led by and through the media. MJ was the worlds most successful and controversial celebrities.

After winning the Grand Jury Prize at Hyeres in 2006, Anthony Vaccarello worked for a short time at Fendi and has now decided to go it alone with his debut collection. His collection looks like some piece of Art, playing with strong light colors, sheers and deconstruct cuts, Anthony Vaccarello is definitely a designer to watch !
