Designers Mike and Dan started silkscreening posters for various bands when they were working at Planet design firm in Madison, Wisconsin years ago, and from those roots grew Aesthetic Apparatus, and they are now Minneapolis gig poster heroes. Jack White from The Dead Weather recently commissioned the duo to create the posters for their national and Canadian tour. Francis and the Lights : Striking

Francis and the Lights are a band from New York headed by front man and Wesleyan graduate Francis. Ironically “the lights” doesn’t refer to the band behind him but in fact the lights on the stage. They have one foot in Prince’s 80′s synth heaven and another foot in the future. Something I like to call “future retro”. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live and are indeed one of the best bands I have seen perform. Nonetheless it easy to acknowledge that in a world where our attention span for new music is quite short and the internet has made it easy for anyone with garageband to post music, Francis and the lights have managed to create timeless music. They have two music videos that are also very worthy of being checked out.
