This collection by Graham Tabor for his SS 09 presentation surpasses all tests of time. Seasons become so impertinent in collections with such conceptual stature and the work remains as a body of art ~ expression. Tabor is inspired by what he calls an “archaeological dig: each fragment separate from the rest, almost veiling its origin. Translucent like tracing paper, constructed of torn stitches, openwork and punctuations, the clothes form a complex game of superimposition.”

Amanda Blank : Make it take it

Amanda Blank is not your typical female artist by any stretch of the imagination. Her vocabulary alone rivals that of most rappers when it comes to the use of expletives in her album. Often compared to M.I.A and Santigold she doesn’t aim to distance herself from them but in fact name drops M.I.A and samples Santigold in her album. Also she somehow finds a way to make being ladylike sound hardcore. Having said that you probably think you know what this electro-clash lady is gonna sound like, but whatever it is you are probably wrong so give her a listen and do get the album. Just don’t listen to the rest of the album with your mom in the room.

Alex Box is a fine artist and visionary before a makeup artist. The woman uses the visage as a canvas to which she applies layers of non-conforming techniques which result in mind blowing avant-garde face paintings. Here are a few stills I pulled from her first, new, self-titled book shot by Rankin. You can also hear an exclusive interview with Jo Jones for The Guardian below. Pure genius! Purchase book here.
