Alex Daniel’s Illustrations


I have always had a huge weakness for illustration that reminded me anything of Egon Schiele, and Alex Daniel’s work does just that for me. The artist’s figurative illustration combines gestural abstraction with emotive palettes that play with positive and negative space. “I enjoy what a painting says in its empty spaces… there is a lot going on in the negative space of my work, although I’m not sure if anyone else can see it,” said Daniel.

Soft Wood by Veronika Wildgruber


Soft Wood was created by Veronika Wildgruber to illustrate how wood can be both soft, and comfortable. This is a series of chairs that appear at first to be made in fabric with the soft appearance of pillows. But in reality they are sculpted in solid wood. The chairs trick the mind because the surface and texture connotes the opposite of what we think and know about the characteristics of wood. READ MORE

Shoe FLeur by Michel Tcherevkoff


The two things women love the most : Shoes and Flowers (and bags). NY based French photographer Michel Tcherevkoff had a revelation when he saw a photograph of a leaf he had shot for a client, turned upside down on his table and thought it looked just like a shoe. He scanned the image, added a heel, and that became the first Shoe Fleur.

Swedish Band Peter Bjorn and John burst onto the scene a few years ago with their ever so catchy tune “young folks”. If this is news to you then I highly suggest you find that particular track pronto! Now back to the task at hand, this delicacy right here is served up on their fifth studio album and instead of a catchy whistling melody employed on young folks its the 6 words “Hey shut the f**k up boy”.
