FLASH FORWARD STYLE : PARIS SS 2011


Architecture, paneling, texture and a cool palette seemed to be the guiding lights in both Gareth Pugh and Pedro Lorenco’s deliveries of their SS 2011 Collection. I mention all those ingredients specifically because even though their results were different enough and original to their own styles, they shared a very futuristic aesthetic. Flash forward to what we know and think of the future and this is pretty much what we would all be wearing.

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down: When We Swam


Willis Thompson and Thao Nguyen met in a re-enactment in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. They found Adam Thompson one summer at a Richmond delicatessen, gingerly slicing. They got in a van together and stopped every night in different places. COMME DES GARCONS : PARIS SS 2011


Hyper-organized chaos is Rei Kawakubo’s signature method of design. She always finds some new way to deconstruct the most basic garment and turn it into a work of art. For Comme Des Garcons SS 2011 there were a lot of spare sleeves and asymmetry which in conjunction with the styling of the girls hair and make-up really eluded to a trip to the mental ward. Post-Vernissage Conceptual Skins


Just yesterday we were talking about Christopher Raeburn and the relevance of his latest designs in the future of sportswear trends. It’s no surprise, with that on my mind  I came across these one-of-a-kind/ prototype designs by Post-Vernissage. Though each garment is fabricated from varying fabrics including rubberized cotton, pvdf textile, polyester and silk they all share a common aesthetic related to the theme of techy-sportswear trends.

Tech-Couture is getting more and more popular, after the “Instant Spray Clothing“, here is the Self-Painting Dress by Dutch haute-tech designer Anouk Wipprecht, developed by Pseudomorphs. The tech-dress is controlled by pumps ink which are slowly transforming the ink into display to create illusions around the body.
