For the very first time, Greek jewelry designer Lito Karakostanoglou preserved real scarabs and housed them in amazing cage necklaces or zoomorph inspired settings for earrings. From India to New Mexico, China or Morocco, Lito travels the world in search of magnificent stones and original organic materials. The finesse of her pavage fields made of rubies or black, white or brown diamonds, and the delicacy of her incisions and insertions, show of an outstanding technique and definite signature, where seduction becomes the sign of refinement and simplicity
Born in 1972 in Greece, Lito Karakostanoglou is a marketing and advertisement graduate (M.A. ‘98, Emerson College, Boston). She opened her fist atelier-boutique in 1999 in Athens where she created unique pieces for a private clientele. She moved to Paris in 2004 to complete her training.
For two years she studied sculpture at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and technical drawing at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie et Orfèvrerie.
She went on to create unique pieces of jewellery for the fashion shows of Kenzo (2005) and those of Jean Paul Gaultier for the couture and “prêt-à-porter” collections (2006). She lives in Athens, where she has re-opened her atelier-boutique in the centre of the city.
More than any abstract notion, it is the shape and the colour of her pieces as well as their always unique and different brilliance that are her real source of inspiration.
As a designer of precious jewellery, she revisits in a contemporary spirit artistic movements emblematic of elegance and allure such as the Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
