Marginal Notes is a design project by Note Design Studio that came about organically as the designers in the studio were having coffee one day. The concept came from shining a light on those sketches that are super free hand and mind, things that are sort of mindless and never really manifest themselves into real life objects, “marginals” as Note Deign Studio referred to them. I really like the playful modern twist – very Swedish indeed!
Swedish designer Fredrik Färg introduced his latest upholstered furniture collection during Milan Design Week 2011. The ‘Succession Furniture’ Collection was first wrapped in textile and leather then had rope tied around it before it was baked. I am really into Canadian photographer Todd Mclellan’s Disassembly series. In this series of photographs Mclellan dissembles various mechanical objects such as the Pentax Camera and organizes their parts perfectly to shoot them. I love this type of perfect chaos.
Fashion designer Karolina Zmarlak introduced her F/W 2011 collection with this great video directed by Matt Kliegman and Jenna Elizabeth featuring models Flynn and Anna Schilling, where the clothing comes alive with the intensity of the portrayed action. This fashion video entitled “Double Identity / Podwojna Tozsamosc” was inspired by Women of Communism in Poland.
This minimalist Mid-Century style Norwegian cabin was the home of Grete Prytz Kittelsen: the “Queen of Scandinavian Design” as she often was called.
