Claire Duport’s Illustrations

Would you believe after looking at her work that this artist started illustrating only a year ago with no formal training in art? With her departure from fashion after six years at WAD Magazine, Claire Duport decided to pursue one of her greatest passions, “drawing”. Through observation, contemplation and patience she has developed a very detailed and distinctive style,

currently limited to black and white. “I still feel the need of deeply exploring all the fields of density, gradient, light, shade and resonance between both tones. When I come all the way around, maybe I will get into colors,” said Duport.

The amount of detail in Duport’s work is almost more disturbing than some of the details inside the works themselves. When I asked her how long some of the pieces took and what the longest she ever spent on one individual piece was, she responded by saying, “I work very instinctively and above all, always driven by obsessions, that’s why I can easily spend days drawing, without going out or seeing anyone.” That is real commitment to what you love!
