The Yoshida Brothers are a duo from Hokkaido, Japan. They specialize in playing the shamisen but are also famous for taking the traditional art of shamisen playing and adding modern touches to it. If you have never heard of the shamisen, just think of it as kind of like a Japanese banjo. They have been around for quite a while but I was recently turned on to them by a friend of mine here in Japan. READ MORE

Something about the dynamic of 2 people’s skill sets complimenting each other just works for me. And when two people get together and create something on the same creative and mental wavelength, its magical. Crystal Castles, is a duo from Ontario, Canada comprised of Alice Glass(vocals) and Ethan Kath(producer). They are magical.
2 Comments |LCD Soundsytem’s latest and possibly last album is due out for release on May 18th by DFA Records, even though the album was announced to have been finished on Feb. 23rd. The band recorded the album in a mansion that had a recording studio in it in the Hollywood hills because the band’s leader, James Murphy, likes to be completely immersed in the album creation process with as little distractions as possible. To be honest, his dedication and concentration has payed off.
