Architect Zaha Hadid is the latest creative to collaborate with famous Brazilian plastic shoe brand Melissa. Hadid’s design was revealed exclusively at London Fashion Week this autumn. Not surprisingly, her £200 special edition is as sculptural and moulded as her buildings. And as exclusive – the shoes are only available at London’s Dover Street Market.

Too cool for school: L’ecole Des Femmes

LA based label L’ecole Des Femmes’ new collection is amazing: Minnie Mouse ears, prom dresses and skinny ties mix up white blouses and denim shorts.

Now in its third season, the ‘School of Women’ has come a long way from its origins. The label was “conceived in the back seat of a black convertible spider in 1962 by Georgette Malbesee and Jean Pierre Lachemescouilles through the cold smoke of a pair of unfiltered cigarettes.”

With s/s 09 its best collection to date, the label is set to stay.

Eco fashion might not necessarily sound very cool. But it is. Ethical label Kuyichi, who design organic, fair trade fashion, have come up with a fantastic a/w 08 collection of denim, jackets and tops.

While Kuyichi first focus on style, evident in the great range of skinny jeans in purple and green, they are equally passionate about the way their clothes are created – organic cotton and fair trade.

Berlin based fashion label Mongrels in Common have designer a killer a/w 08 collection. Their collection combines tailored, masculine clothing with feminine twists such as pink lining and intricately ruffled dresses.

The two designers, Livia Ximenez-Carrillo and Christine Pluess, call their concept ‘mongrelism’, which sees them combine two seemingly opposite style elements, such as subdued and vibrant colours, and avant-garde design with a more casual concept. READ MORE
