Chandelier Creative and Commonwealth Fashion Week Diner

I really like the attention to details in the curation of the table setting for this intimate dinner at the New Musem on February 14th – hosted by Richard Christiansen of Chandelier Creative. To celebrate Fashion Week and Commonwealth Utilities

Guests were treated to gold lacquered army tables and antique candelabras, as well as 150 gold tanks and 1500 gold soldiers. Love letters from soldiers in WW1 and WW2 were placed on everyone’s chair with stunning views of lower Manhattan providing the scenery. (I want to see those love letters!!) Among the attendees: Richard Christiansen, Lorenzo Martone, Peter Som, Lane Crawford’s Jennifer Woo, Steve Madden.

I’m all for a fancy table-setting but I find it in odd you would choose to commend the design of a mess hall table decorated with gilded tanks and soldiers and candelabra at such a time in our country’s history. To dine in such an environment, toasting the success of a fashion show, while romanticizing war seems like a very uncomfortable dinner. I wonder how many guests, high atop Manhattan, contemplated the lives of our soldiers in danger everyday.

That’s true that the soldier touch was a bit risquy, but it was more to going with the ‘military theme’ of their show before – Even though i had the first same impression as you…
