Gabriele Colangelo S/S 2012

Designer Gabriele Colangelo usually looks to artists for inspiration. And for this S/S 2012 Collection, he has the work of Gerhard Richter all over his mood board, and recreated his own personal renditions on the runway.

Bright blue paint effects and images of seaside sunsets are seen on a-line dresses and embellished tops, while even the pure white ensembles resemble a clean canvas. No doubt, already a difficult effect to execute, Gabriele—with his love for synthetics—drew upon bolts of different fabric, including jacquard woven from nylon, and silicon-thread material.  All these elements resulted in an overall elegant collection, full of knee-length dresses—in slim and flouncy cuts; loose, tunic tops, and low-slung trousers.
