The intro of IS TROPICAL‘s “Land of the Nod” puts the primitive back in production with simulated sticks banging on cans blended in with cold and synth-laden warehouse sounds. The quickness with which it switches gears into a warm, head-bopper is as quick as you’ll fall in love. The Kitsuné-sponsored English threesome put out the highly-praised, electronic single, “The Greeks.” And with that, our attention was grabbed. Of course, their harmless rendition of a punk clan caused a double take as well–and an historical comparison that will go nameless for the sake of decency.

It just so happens these guys barely show face at all. IS TROPICAL goes shirt-faced, hair over face, or hide behind anything at all. It may be a phantom pact to keep it all about the music, following suit after the masked Daft Punk and The Gorillaz, who anonymously played behind a curtain in their beginning years. Either way, we just want to see them release more music. That’s all that matters.
