Beirut : My Wife Lost in the Wild

realpeople

Beirut released its third album this week, a double EP split between ‘March of the Zapotech’, which follows the orchestral band’s traditional sound as it mixes with Latin – in particular, Oaxacan – influences. But its the second half, the ‘Holland EP,’ where things get interesting. Recording under the name “RealPeople”, Zach Condon’s band incorporates electronic sounds and follows in the pretty paths of Portishead and Hot Chip. You can find the opening track “My Night with a Prostitute from Marseilles” around the internet, and I recommend doing so, but here I offer the stunning “My Wife Lost in the Wild”.
