Clare Waight Keller is like the new girl at school. Unlike her three creative director predecessors, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo, and Hannah McGibbon, who all graduated from Central Saint Martins and were promoted from within Chloé, Claire studied at London’s Royal College of Art and is a straight-hire from Pringle of Scotland. Still, the professional thirty-something designer definitely seems to have a feel for the label’s target clientele, as showcased by her debut S/S 2012 collection.
“For me, Chloé is about what’s real, what’s now; and it was about really capturing the spirit of Read the full story

We can always count on Chloe to bring us some bohemiam-chic. The leather and wool color-blocking feels so cozy. Designer, Hannah MacGibbon played with snakeskin prints this season. Head to toe looks in snakeskin, and I think she paired the quite nicely.

Yesterday I read an article from one of my favorite fashion journalists, Hadley Freeman, for the UK Guardian that made my day, week and even year. Now obviously we have been hearing this news since September of 2008, but it was Hadley’s article supported by interviews with Phoebe Philo, Olivia Morris (Philo’s good friend), and Marco Gobetti (president of Celine) that really made the full impact of Philo’s return to the industry.
A intriguing woman to say the least…THE women’s designer of our generation, a mother to two youngens, a wife, and one of the best thing to happen to fashion in 2009…Phoebe Philo makes her comeback by joining Celine. I really could not imagine a more perfect liaison than this. I mean, a 3-year break after delivering the best in womenswear for 3 years at Chloe, should flourish seamlessly into the next step for Philo’s customer, who are starting to mature to a more sophisticated wardrobe. The next step for her Chloe customer is on its way and I can say in full confidence it will be delivered with a splash!

“I’m fascinated by the possibility of the manipulation of nature in the quest for beauty. It’s a kind of obsession. I’ve always been fascinated by gardening in the sense that trees can be trained into different shapes and I think that the body is a similar tool. It doesn’t happen overnight, although a corset can be donned on a very superficial level. But it also has another side to it which is a much deeper thing, Read the full story

trends in designer shoes 2008
2008 is particularly exciting in womens designer footwear trends. There are a few re-occurring design concepts such as color blocking, geometry, and the use of patent and suede leather that are dominating factors of this years must have’s. More than ever I feel like shoes are making the outfit, so you don’t need much else to pull the bombshell look off. Powerful shoes for powerful women!
We are seeing a lot of chunky but clean and very sexy wedges, open toe ankle boots and just ankle boots in general, and color patch work as seen in the Prada, Fendi, Pierre Hardy and Louboutin shoes featured above. My favorite Collection of shoes this Spring is definitely the Marni Collection. I could snatch just about each pair and wear them to death.

Eerie, disturbing, beautiful..just a few adjectives that come to mind when poring over these High Fashion Crime Scenes by Melanie Pullen. Her images are ” vintage crime-scene images,” found from the files of the LAPD and the County Coroner’s Office. She has worked with Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Gucci and Chanel.
