As can be expected from Viktor & Rolf, they delivered quite a show with their SS 2011 collection. Voluminously exaggerated layers of shirting styles made their way down the runway in a very animated tenor. Though the dramatic pieces had a great presence and were completely necessary in illustrating the designers inspiration it was the most simplified version of these ideas that really marked me. The show was a great journey from couture to street.

It was really hard to believe that after Alexander McQueen’s passing the house would be able to live on in its grandiose fashion. This collection is living proof that there is someone left to carry his legacy and dedication to craftsmanship. Sarah Burton worked beside McQueen for 15 years and has shared that there were so many ideas left to be explored in her work with the designer.
