The art world has spawned a new creation in faraway Tasmania. It has been called the ‘Bilbao of the south’ and in the owner’s words a ‘subversive adult Disneyland’. Australian mathematics and gambling guru, David Walsh, is using his fortune to showcase his eclectic collection of art from around the Read the full story

Earlier this year Kids Company and the Bryan Adams Foundation hosted “Shoebox Art” a unique auction of art from leading artists. The artists each recreated an image from their childhood that would be auctioned in support o f Kids Company’s work with vulnerable children. The shoebox as the only restriction. 40 artists participated, my favorites included (in order) Shorvon and Hunter,

I would take these jeweled skull-heads by Los Angeles based sculptor Amy Sarkisian over Damien Hirst $100 million diamond skull any day! Beautiful work and way cheaper (priced between 5 to $10.000). These foam decorated skulls are some truly masterpieces!! Read the full story

I really enjoy artist Laura Keeble‘s sense of humor. On closing night for Damien Hirst exhibit at the White Cube Mason’s yard, his diamond skull For the Love of God was being gingerly put away by gallery staff. Laura Keeble took it upon herself to pay homage to the artist, by recreating his skull and then chucking it in front of the gallery steps.
The Damien Hirst Skull is composed of platinum, diamond, and human teeth. The skull has 8,601 diamonds and 1,106.18 carats. It is the most expensive piece of art ever created, costing $16 to $20 million to make, and $99 million to buy. ( $99 million?!)
