“Discovery sounds like a direct descendant of Daft Punk’s Discovery . There’s a little Postal Service, Janet Jackson, Hot Chip, and T-Pain mixed in, too.” Thanks Pitchfork, but when you start to compare a new band with five other incredibly successful acts that span decades and genres, it may be a kind of useless associatin, don’t ya think? It’s like, “Oh I think Janet Jackson once sang about having a crush so she must be an influence too.”
Do I sound bitter?

Discovery, the new group from Vampire Weekend’s keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij & Ra Ra Riot’s lead singer Wes Miles, blends tender pop crooning and the swirling synth of modern r&b. Shit is rad, romantic, and blissful.  If you picture yourself riding in a convertible in slow-motion, or as a five year-old girl playing in the sprinklers in suburban Texas, it makes the music better. Full album, titled ‘LP,’ is due out in July on XL Recordings.
