Jeremy Scott : NYFW SS 2011

Kelli Osborne, Kanye and Sarah Colette sat side by side at Jeremy Scott’s show. The first looks were some of the most exciting and what we wait to see each season from a JS show. Inspired by deli grocery plastic bags, Jeremy used a fabric that I could have sworn from my seat was the actual plastic bag itself, with prints that had “Have a Nice day”, “Thank you for shopping here”, “I love NY” and “Fuck You” repeats in dissolving opacity made to look like the plastic bag that usually reads” thank you, thank you, thank you…”

Besides that series I loved the prosciutto looks. The models looked like they had prosciutto carefully slapped along their silhouette. It looked so raw and so most importantly felt so Jeremy.

New York Fashion Week F/W 2010 Runway Review

Nostalgia Anew: Serenity Subversive

“It’s refreshing to see something that isn’t trying so hard to be new. There’s so much striving for newness now that newness feels less new.” – Marc Jacobs

Tough lowered its guard for the farewell wave to Bryan Park. And that was that. New York was quiet. Muted – the palette and the message both. Inspired by sleep, it felt like it. Not that we mind ambiguity every once in a while. Read the full story

Costume Dept. Grows More Than Just Legs With a Full F/W Collection

lookbook09B.indd

I am absolutely addicted to Costume Dept.’s obscenely loud leggings and now the daring Lycra™ dealers  are expanding to include a full line for F/W09!!!

The predominantly black color pallet might be a startling contrast to their Lisa-Frank-beginning but the smart and versatile noir pieces are the kind of wardrobe ammo that just keeps giving.

I spoke with Owner Shawn Kaleka about Costume Dept. and the new foray into a full-fledged collection.

The smokey-eyed Beau Brummel explains that the fabulous fit can only be attributed to fashion designer ingenue, Shaun Sampson who works under the guidance of greats like Jeremy Scott while completing his study at St. Martin in London.

To know Sampson’s innate talent for draping a woman (or man) is as easy as slipping into a pair of his Ziggy Stardust creations. Uh yeah, i haven’t taken mine off since scoring the gems at a trunk show.

Back to the new line at hand, super-long fringe, androgynous puns and Islamic cultural cues combine in a goth kaleidoscope that’s anything but depressing. The insightful design choices will woo the most daring of boys and girls.

Paper Magazine: 23 Hours to Go

Part 1 & 2
A huge trend has risen lately in fashion; The Pop-Up Store. We have been following some of the freshest brands and Collectives popping-up in NY, LA, and London. what a better thing to do when you are visitng a place but throw together a store/ambiance where you can invite and host the people interested in your work. Paper Magazine hasnow taken it to another level. One hour ago I was at the launching of the 24 hour department store installation by Paper Magazine. what a brilliant idea and execution. I have been keeping an eye on their progress all week. They started setting up Monday to be ready by Tonight. i wanted to get there at exactly 6pm to see what it would be like outside, and as I predicted the line was growing fast and people were inpatient. I ran in to snap some pics and tell you guys all about it right away. the energy was great and the exhibitors were awesome. i cant wait to go back in the middle of the night to see what they are up to. Inside you will find exhibitors including Screaming Mimi’s, Opening Ceremony, Citizen-Citizen and many more.

Part 3 & 4
