There’s a reason Jil Sander is known for its sophistication and tailoring. Actually, a lot of reasons, and they can all be seen on the runway in the label’s S/S 2012 collection.

Check out the beautiful S/S 2011 ad campaign for Jil Sander accessories photographed by Willy Vanderperre. At first glance these images look more like paintings than photographs. I love how Vanderperre chose to overexpose the face in some of the images, making it more about the colors, patterns and accessories featured than the model.

For as long as I have followed fashion Jil Sander has been a staple in setting the standard in my eyes. This SS 2011 Raf Simmons continues the houses legacy of pure, minimal but highly inspired forward fashion. There was nothing conservative about Simmon’s palette, “A mille-feuille of color,” as he best stated it. Milan Menswear fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2010 was very good. Looking at it all together even made sense in defining a general archetype of our modern man. He is soft but constructed, minimal but bold, nostalgic yet always looking to march into the future with an eager stride. In a nutshell that is what I got from Milan.
