Hecuba : Suffering

Isabelle Albuquerque normally takes the spotlight in Hecuba, the LA-based band comprised of her and partner Jon Beasley. Her persona is theatric – onstage, she dresses in a sequined spandex body suit and sports awkward bangs – but their music is more subtle. On “Suffering,” the single from their recently released album ‘Paradise’ on Manimal Records, however, they switch up their style a bit. The song is catchier than anything they had previously released, and Beasley takes over on vocals. The band’s style has been described, aptly but annoyingly, as “art-pop” and “ambient electro-dub.”  Have a look at the ‘Grease’ and ‘Brady Bunch’ -inspired video and a listen to the remix below.
