A bastion of French luxury given a modern twist: Nick Knight‘s Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign for Hermès reinterprets the artisan tradition and hand-craft synonymous with Hermès for the twenty-first century. The vibrant fashion film takes on a painterly quality with beautiful movement from Alana Zimmer and Isaac Carew. The overlayed brush strokes mimicking the fall colors that appear in the luxury brand’s beautiful prints are a great touch the final aesthetic of the video.
During the British Fashion Awards, Nick Knight introduced his short film tribute to Alexander McQueen. The 3.27min film was directed by Knight and set to an exclusive soundtrack by Björk styled by Edward Enninful, and features solely black models in the best of McQueen’s archives.
2010 marks the 30th anniversary of i-D magazine and to celebrate, a host of models, stylists, editors, actors, photographers and musicians have been invited to be photographed by Nick Knight as part of a very special photographic project which mirrors Knight’s 100 portraits series shot for the 5th anniversary of i-D in 1985.
The list of names includes Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh, Florence & The Machine and Leona Lewis and a whole host of celebrated names that have all graced the pages of i-D over the past 30 years. The original story for the October 1985 issue included a cross section of talent such as Leigh Bowery, Adam Ant, Morrissey, Michael Clark and Steve Strange. The shoot will take place in the Live Studio at the SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution exhibition at Somerset House. Exhibition visitors can watch the shoot via a two-way mirror.
