Every season I try to redefine each fashion week by its strongest characteristics. The fashion weeks personalities rarely change but perhaps my perspective on them continues to evolve. Looking at Paris this season I would say that Paris’s personality is “Classic Remixed”. All silhouettes have a similar structural starting point but what makes the featured designer’s collections stand out is how each pulls, crops and tweaks it to express a very different aesthetic, within the variables of “Classic Remixed”. Every one of these look is worth a million words. Stefano Pilati knows more about how to make a woman feel superior than most. Bold and elegant, the YSL Womens Resort 09/2010 Collection is beautifully represented through this simple and remarkably styled look book. For the look book they used Mina Cvetkovic, a model we are starting to see more and more frequently.

Stefano Pilati’s latest obsession is an original collection designed for women which has been inspired by the latest Yves Saint Laurent Men Spring/Summer collection. The artistic director has used key outfits from his mens collection (blazer, costume, shirt, trouser, trench..) that he adjusted to the womens size in order to create 17 “unisex” silhouettes. I had trouble to give a title to this article. I mean it could have been multiple suiting things like, “Claudia Schiffer for YSL”, or “My Heart Stops, When Stefano Pilati Starts” or “The Hollywood Sign Abstracted”, but I couldn’t make anything more important that this shoe. No matter what else is released this year nothing will come close to this graphic sculptural peep toe boot, made of leather and wire. It is just pure untouchable genius! It is no wonder they have the whole SS09 YSL campaign was based on it, and the photos of Schiffer shot by Inez & Vinoodh are nothing short of amazing. They captured that Hollywood Glamour with the abstracted letters of the Hollywood sign just behind Schiffer.
