Yeasayer : Ambling Alp

Brooklyn based band Yeasayer treats us to a track with interesting textures and sounds layered on a very infectious melody. The track in itself shuffles through a few styles and in these modern times when a band is hard to pigeon hole in terms of what genre they fall under it tends to be a good thing. As Rob Mitchum a writer for pitchfork put it, “they have an A.C.-esque loopiness, but also a barely-articulated reggae bounce, a falsetto-and-funk-horns breakdown, and a digitally-jacked organ out of an Ed Banger track.”

Yeasayer : Tightrope

Yeasayer is a band out of Brooklyn who describe their music as “Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel”. They first started getting attention after performing at the 2007 SXSW music festival. Since then, they have toured with MGMT and Man Man. They also have a song on the lovely Dark Was the Night compilation album, along with the likes of artists including David Byrne, Grizzly Bear and Bon Iver. Yeasayer is working on recording their next album now which should be released by the end of the year. Listen to “Tightrope” below.
