I was hoping for a mix of live action actors and cgi - the characters look like they are from Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within from 2001! I don't know about other viewers but I always feel if the characters are unconvincing "human" cgi I don't care what happens to them in a movie and therefore can't engage with the narrative. I remember watching the original and being blown away by the lightcycle sequence - now because cgi is so ubiquitous it has no real impact. Pretty but vacant. Shame.
